Nightjar

The project aimed to create a unique Christmas gift to sell at the university's handcrafted festival while avoiding a seasonal theme. Inspired by nature and specifically a heathland setting where distinctive nocturnal birds can be found, as well as inspiration from Helen Stokes glass work. A screen-printing technique was used to transfer a silhouette image onto both glass and enamelled metal. The image was derived from a photograph taken on a Midsummer night at ten o'clock in an upland heathland location.
